How Nordvia Outdoor recovered $214K in abandoned carts in six months
The challenge
Three tools, one leaking funnel
Aurora sells technical outdoor gear direct to consumers across the Nordics, DACH and the Netherlands — markets where WhatsApp is the default messaging app. By early 2025, their funnel had calcified: an email platform for marketing, a shared Gmail inbox for support, and a separate tool for the occasional WhatsApp blast. Cart-recovery emails converted at 6%. Support requests took a median of nine hours to get a first reply, and "where is my order?" consumed two full-time agents during peak season.
"We knew our customers were on WhatsApp — our account manager was texting wholesale buyers there every day," says Elin Sorensen, Head of Customer Experience. "But our own tooling treated it like a side channel. The numbers said otherwise."
The solution
One WhatsApp channel, four playbooks, three weeks
Aurora consolidated everything onto GeneX in October 2025 — number verification included — and launched with the retail playbooks pre-built in the platform.
Cart recovery with a human escalation path
A 45-minute WhatsApp nudge with product images and a one-tap checkout link. Carts above €200 route to the VIP desk with a personal offer — recovery reads as concierge, not spam.
Order updates wired to fulfillment
Shopify and DHL events fire shipping milestones automatically. Delivery exceptions alert customers before they notice — and the AI Agent answers WISMO chats from live tracking data overnight.
Season-drop broadcasts to opted-in shoppers
Segmented by category affinity, sent in each market's local evening. Their January winter-drop broadcast sold out the flagship jacket line in 31 hours.
A named concierge line for the top 5%
VIP customers get priority routing and restock alerts on saved items. The segment now attributes 38% of D2C revenue.
The results
Six months later
Cart-recovery rate
WhatsApp nudges with images and one-tap checkout convert five times better than the old email sequence.
Recovered cart revenue
Attributed directly to WhatsApp recovery flows between October 2025 and March 2026.
WISMO tickets
Proactive shipping updates and the AI Agent absorb the queue before it reaches a human.
First response time
Down from nine hours on email. After-hours chats get an AI answer in seconds, a human summary in the morning.
Results measured in GeneX Analytics, Oct 2025 – Mar 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier.
We replaced three tools — a shared inbox, a broadcast tool and half of our email marketing — with GeneX. Cart recovery alone pays for the subscription every month, and our support team finally sleeps through the night.
How it rolled out
Kickoff to first recovered cart: three weeks
Number verified, Shopify connected
Meta business verification completed in four business days with GeneX's onboarding team. Shopify sync live on day six.
Consent capture switched on
Checkout opt-in, a QR code on packaging inserts, and a website widget began building the opted-in list — 9,400 subscribers in the first month.
Cart recovery live
The first recovered cart landed 14 hours after the flow went live — a €289 shell jacket.
Order updates and AI Agent on
WISMO volume began its 72% decline within three weeks of proactive shipping updates going live.
VIP concierge launched
The top-5% segment crossed 38% of D2C revenue share, tracked in the GeneX LTV dashboard.
